Have you ever surprised your significant other with a romantic at-home date night? Yes, I know it's the holidays and between shopping for the kids and a packed holiday calendar, the last thing you are thinking about is romance. I get it. But your relationship is important and a surprise date night is the best way to show you are still thinking about them! It's also very easy to put together and it's a super fun surprise.

I surprised JC with this super fun basket the other night. I put the basket on the table with a little note about a fun date night. I also wanted to spice things up since we have been together for a couple years and it's always fun to try new things. Int he basket I included: red lingerie, chocolates, a bottle of wine and a package of K-Y® Yours+Mine lubricants.

On the K-Y® box I noticed it came with a special deal.

The deal is now a $50 value that includes 1 free meal for two from PeachDish.com, delivered right to your door for an intimate night of cooking together and a $5 Vudu movie credit to stream a movie right from home. Perfect for a date night in!

My relationship with JC is very important to me. I love to surprise him and keep him on his toes. He is a good man and I don't want our relationship to take a back seat during this busy time. We had fun on our at-home date night and it will definitely happen more often!!

Why I Love Being A Boy Mom!

Hello! Happy Monday! Today I am over at Chasin Mason talking about why I love being a boy mom! Elizabeth, the lovely mama behind Chasin Mason, created a fun series where she asks other mamas "Why do you love being a boy mom?" and we all get to gush about our boys over at her site. Check out my post here.

Step-dads Are Dads Too!

Remember step-fathers on father's day

Father's Day is right around the corner. It's a great day to remember your father and all he has done for you. Sometimes though, whether through divorce, death, incarceration or negligence, some kids are raised by their step-dads.  In most cases, step-dads do an amazing job, stepping up to the plate to help raise kids. In these cases, I really don't even see the need to call them step-dads. They are a dad just like any other.

There is a negative stereotype to the concept of a step-dad, just like anything else. There are horrible men that come into a home and mis-treat the children. As a single mother, one needs to be very careful as to who you bring around your children. I haven't met any of these men. I have been very, very lucky!

In our home, JC helps me raise Adrian. JC is with Adrian ALL THE TIME. They hang out and watch TV together. They play basketball together, JC is his coach. They play video games together. JC is Adrian's "Papa" and I wouldn't have it any other way. JC loves Adrian and Adrian loves him. They have a typical father-son relationship and most people don't even realize that JC is his step-dad.

Now it isn't all clear skies and rainbows. There are days where they spend the whole day arguing and not talking to each other. They get on each other's nerves. Adrian gets jealous of the time I spend with JC. There are days that JC is jealous of Adrian. This happens in all relationships. Most days are great though. JC is a great support system for Adrian. He is a wonderful father to Adrian!
