So How Many Kids Do You Have?

"So...how many kids do you have exactly?" I get asked this question alot. More than you can imagine. Especially, since every time I post a picture on my IG (@scggirl) there are 3 or 4 kids in the picture. You see, I tend to pick up kids as I go. I'm a real world Angelina! Sure, technically, I have one child, Adrian, whom I love and adore and he's fantastic but in my heart, I have 4.

I haven't formally introduced Ivanna to you! Ivanna is Adrian's cousin on his dad's side of the family. She is nine but I met her when she was 2. Even though Adrian's dad and I are no longer together, it does not stop me from having a fabulous relationship with his family. Ivanna is being raised by her grandparents so we see her often due to Adrian visiting his grandparents about twice a week. We live about 5 minutes from each other. I have watched Ivanna grow into an amazing girl and she is my niece through and through.

Then come my step-kids, Amberly and Gian. (You can read more about them in my About me page.) I have been warned by many to not get too attached to step-kids but I am taking my chances with these two. I have been a part of their lives for about three years now. We have been through alot together and even though I did not give birth to them, I consider them my kids.

We might not all be blood-related, but we are family! We are a family of 6! Sure, people might think I am crazy, but I am having a wonderful time with all these kids. I am enjoying spending time with them and watching them grow. I am extremely grateful to be a part of their lives!

    1. Thank you. I know it's hard to see them appreciating anything now but I'm sure they will one day!

  4. I think it is sad people would say to not get so close to your step-kids, you should! The kids are lucky as they have two sets of parents that love them. Your kids are adorable.

    1. I have actually heard this from many people. Being a step-parent is not easy but I am hoping to make it work and even if we don't talk often when they are adults, I want them to know I will always be there for them!

  6. Beautiful! The kids are lucky to have you in their life...you obviously love them all very much. It makes me sad that people would tell you not to get attached to your step-kids...how horrible that would be for the children if that was the case. Children deserved to be loved by the adults in their lives.

    1. Lots of people have told me not to get attached to them. I'm guessing it's because they have been hurt once the relationship splits. It is extremely hard to be a step-parent but I take it day by day. We are a family, no matter what!

  7. What a sweet post! I found you on the SITS Sharefest. I am more the 'I have 2 and can I trade them to you for some reanut butter cups?' type of gal, but you restore my faith in humanity :o) They are cuties - I love that picture of Ivanna. She looks like she has some major personality. All are adorbs.

  9. :) Sounds a little like my family! I have 6 siblings of my own, but my Mom has taken care of two other little girls since infancy and they're both now 3--they're definitely part of the family, too!
