Ivanna's First Communion

On Saturday, we celebrated Ivanna's First Holy Communion. This was a big day for her after two years of catechism classes. The mass celebrating the communion was scheduled for 5:30pm and miraculously started on time!! Cue the super cute girl in her Communion dress:

It was a LONG mass (almost 2 hours) but it was nice, very different from when I did my communion. The kids start in between their parents in the pews, we sat as a group. All the prayers were sung, I remember having to recite the Lord's prayer. I was a little lost, but all in all it was a beautiful ceremony.

I don't take my children to mass often but they do know how to behave themselves when they do attend. At one point, (when everyone was going up for communion) I did give Adrian my phone to play a game. When I looked around, most kids were doing the same. If it would have been a regular mass, I wouldn't have given it to him, but like I mentioned before, this was a LONG ceremony.

I have mentioned Ivanna's story and why she lives with her grandparents before. She was the only child there that was not accompanied by her mother and father, but she didn't care because her grandparents were there. They are Mom and Dad to her!

Here they are accompanying Ivanna to receive her First Communion. It was such a special moment and I'm glad I was able to capture it.

Let's talk about how handsome Adrian looked. Yes the phone was still in his hand but he willingly posed for pictures!

If you have ever wondered who Adrian looks like, here you go. He and his grandmother are like clones. It freaks me out sometimes. They have the same hands, feet, head shape, eyes, teeth, ears, EVERYTHING!

Most of the cousins were there for Ivanna's big day. Here's a group shot. There are still 4 cousins missing from this pic. Lots of grandchildren in this family!

And then, the silly shot because it's not right for children to have to behave ALL THE TIME!

After the ceremony, we went back to the grandparents house for dinner and cake! It was a beautiful day and I'm so glad I was able to be there for such a special moment!

  1. This is so sweet! I remember my first communion - it wasn't as long as hers, I think it was just added to regular mass. It's a sweet and special memory though and she looked beautiful. :)
